Keeping horses in my life

I seem to finally be adjusting to not riding on a regular basis or even at all for now. I do have a plan in place that will hopefully allow me to return to riding in some form at some time.

That plan looks a bit like me getting my butt in gear and getting in shape. I have been slowing getting stronger and ever so slowing losing weight. Now that Fawkes is sold I am going to look at joining a gym/ health and fitness center that has a pool and aqua program.

I have been using the pools when I travel as well as the elliptical machines. I'm hoping to hold off on any joint injections until after the holidays. At that point I will try getting back on a horse and see how it feels. On the plus side I have been trying to not use the brace while I am working in my home office and it seems to be going well. I can get around the house with relatively little pain and it gives my leg a nice break from the brace.

For the time being I am happy enough to keep my horse fix by doing work for the website www.chicagoequestrian.com. I was able to attend the National Horse Show in Lexington last weekend as a member of the press. It was very, very cool and rewarding to be a part of the action.
I have some great pictures that I will share with you in my next post.

  1. Glad to hear you are adjusting. Horses will always be part of your life, I think.

Love swimming as therapy. I was planning on going to the pool the day I got dumped off my horse onto my new knee. Guess that will have to wait until I am recovered from this setback. Ah, well.
