Ahhhhhh.... Home for a week and a little of this and that.

I took a home office week this week. Every once in a while it is just good to stay home and work from the office. It is amazing how much stuff piles up. Both literally and figuratively!

I have been very busy with actual work as far as web ex's and conference calls scheduled every single day. So many of them in fact that I don't even have a block of time to make the drive up to the barn and back to see Fawkes!

What I have had time to do is clean, and I mean super clean. The den/office is sparkling. I don't think it was even this clean and organized when we moved the furniture in. Hopefully I will have time to clean the bedroom and bathrooms too by Friday.

Unfortunately, I am in appliance hell. My brand new washing machine decided to burn up and there was smoke pouring out of the vents in the back. I almost thought about calling the fire department. I pulled the plug and put on a fan to draw the stinky burnt electronics smell out of the house and luckily the smoked stopped. Good news is I have full coverage for 5 years, they have to fix or replace it, bad news... They can't come until next Tuesday. And on top of that the ice maker in the freezer went out so they will look at that too.

At least the appliances broke when I am home and have time to schedule and wait for the repairmen!

The weather has been very nice fall weather. It seems we went from hot summer to cool fall in the matter of a couple days. I have been getting to the forest preserves to go for walks every morning. The place closest to me is only 15 minutes with traffic so easy to get to for a nice walk in the morning without taking up too much travel time. It brings up lots of good memories that can be a little bittersweet to me. Bittersweet because these trails are the only ones that I ever successfully rode Fawkes on. He is sooooo not a trail horse, but I did get him out there several times. :)

Fawkes will be heading back out for another trial next week. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is a great fit for him.

  1. Still waiting for the fall weather here in NJ. Hot, muggy and "yuck."

Caught up a bit on your blog. Glad to hear you are getting in so much walking. Sounds as if the knee is holding up well. Keep it up and I am sure you will be fit and well enough to ride happily again.

Great pictures. I love the visual tours.

Guess I just missed you in Philadelphia. *G* My surgery was at Thomas Jefferson Hospital on the 6th. It's somewhere near the center of town, but I didn't get any sightseeing done since I spent the bulk of my time in a hospital bed. I do think I need to go back to explore a bit when I can walk well enough to enjoy the sights.

  2. You are right, good thing your appliances did go when you were home, I don't even want to imagine!

    Good luck Fawkes!
